The Proposal

There are times when words are simply incapable of capturing the greatness of a moment.

It was supposed to be just a simple drive to see the fall foliage at the Skyline Drive. We packed lunch, filled the car with gas, grabbed our cameras and drove to Skyline Drive.  Fall was trully in the air, as we passed through beautiful shades of orange, red and yellow.  The trees looked like royalty wearing their full autumn regalia. I couldn't stop taking photos and I was pleased that we were just in time to see the foliage peak.

Then we stopped at one of the overlooks, this overlook was our favorite last year as we sat on one of the  big rocks and waited for the sunset there. I clearly remembered how beautiful the autumn colors were as the sun quietly hid among the mountains.

I was busy taking photos when Kepi was suddenly on his knees. I thought he was hurt or was just getting ready to snap some photos. I was utterly surprised when he brought out a black box and said, "Will you marry me?" At first, I thought he was joking and I told him to get up and stop kidding. Until I took a second glance and saw there was an actual ring.

The feeling was indescribable. It was an absolute wonderful mixed feelings of joy, shock, disbelief, euphoria all bundled into one. It was breathtaking.

Lost in that moment, I said, "Yes!" Held out my left hand and felt the ring on my finger. It felt like a dream. I laughed, hugged and kissed - my fiance.  Since then, I've been happily wearing my engagement ring.

It's funny when something incredible happens and you think it went by like a blur that you'd like to do it again. When we were driving home that day, I complained that the proposal went so quick and asked if he'd do it again.

He laughed and said, "Ok."
